Originally, the project was intended to be a simple one-person office, but this changed as the build began and the room started to take shape. The customer saw how the finished room was coming together, and decided to extend the composite decking along the side as well, providing an additional outdoor area where she could sit, relax and enjoy her new space.
The garden office was completed in July 2024 at a cost of £13,999 including VAT, the side area was then added, taking the total project cost to £16,699 including VAT.

The Client Brief
The client wanted to add a 1-person home office to the property. Our goal was to provide a comfortable place to work without taking away too much space from the rest of her garden.
The 3 metre by 2.4 metre layout offered plenty of space for a functional home office while adding a well-proportioned building to the garden, that didn’t overpower the space.
This shows how garden offices don’t need to cover a large area of your outdoor space to achieve the separation you want between home and work.
Maximising Space in a Smaller Garden Room

In Wombourne, the room provided more than enough space for the customer’s needs, while the floor-to-ceiling glazed doors and windows made the room feel bright and open, connecting the office to the rest of the garden.
As with most of our garden room customers, it’s their priority to have a room to work in that’s separate from the main house. And the outcome here is a well-defined place where the client can work without the need for a large extension or losing a room inside the house.
From Home Office to Somewhere to Relax
As we started, the plan was to run the composite decking along the front of the office, but when the customer saw the building taking shape she decided she wanted to make more of the external space as well.
And of course, we were more than happy to accommodate her. The decking was extended around the side of the garden room, and it looks great.
The additional decking gave her new space to sit, take a break from her work or just to enjoy the garden room when it’s not being used as an office.
The garden room became a place that could be enjoyed for relaxing as well as a workspace. The perfect work-life balance.
